What this email is
Someone applying to medical school in Ontario listed you as a person who can confirm one of the activities on their application. Receiving this email is a normal part of the process. The applicant chose you because you supervised, worked with, or witnessed the activity they described.
Why verification exists
Ontario medical schools require applicants to submit an Autobiographical Sketch: a structured list of their employment, volunteering, research, and other activities. For each activity, applicants must name a verifier: someone who can confirm the activity happened as described. Schools may contact verifiers directly to spot-check entries, sometimes months after submission. ClearedMD helps applicants confirm these details with their verifiers ahead of time, so everyone is on the same page if a school calls.
What you're being asked to do
The link in your email shows you one activity as the applicant described it: their role, dates, hours, and responsibilities. You have three options.

You are not writing a reference letter. You are not evaluating the applicant or their chances. You are not signing a legal document.
